Howlite - Blue is a dyed form of Howlite being blue in color with white specks, pale tones, or dark markings often in a web like pattern in very erratic viens. The structure of Howlite is monoclinic with a Mohs hardness of 3.5 and lacks regular cleavage. when dyed Howlite oftens imitates other minerals especially (Turquoise) because of the superficial similarity of the veining patterns. The dyed Howlite or Magnesite is often marketed as (Turquenite). Howlite is also sold in its natural state sometimes being called (White Turquoise) or (White Buffalo Turquoise) and (White Buffalo Stone) however these stones are quite simply Howlite.
Metaphysically Howlite whether natural or dyed is known for its ability to dispel anger, resentfulness and selfishness. While Howlite is known to improve positive character traits it is also known to dispel less attractive traits such as critical mind thoughts, rudeness and offensive behavior and lessen procrastination. Howlite is also useful for gaining personal insight, out of body experiences and meditation. Known by many to be a stone able to calm and bring about serenity and peacefullness.
