About Canopic Jars:
Canopic Jars: Used among the ancient Egyptians and were commonly made of Limestone, Pottery, Wood or Bronze. The jars were used from the period of the Old Kingdom on-wards to store various internal organs which were removed during the process of mummification. All the Viscera were not kept in a single Canopic Jar but were each placed in it own jar.
The Egyptians used Four Canopic Jars each intended to safe keep a particular human organ.
The four types of jars also represented the Four Cardinal Points of the Compass.
Each jar was associated with one of the Four Sons of Horus.
