The Great Symbol of Solomon also known as The Double Triangle of Solomon and in some parts of India known as the Sign of Vishnu. Vishnu is the Hindi's way of conceiving the Second Sephirah, Chockmah, also known as The Son by Christian theology. Vishnu comes from the "Vish" which means "To penetrate" and/or "Ever penetrating it all." The symbol has also been known as The Star of David in Europe during the crusades of the Middle Ages. Jewish traditions lend to the Star of David as being an authentic symbol stemming from Hebrew only.

The symbol depicts two triangles, an upright one and a downward one. Often these two triangles are displayed in colors the upward one being red or white and the downward one being shown in blue or black. These colors are considered to be opposites red/blue, white/black.

The symbol carries many psychological and philosophical implications as both triangles are together, in harmony and without confusion, not blended or mixed with each other but rather together.

The upright triangle usually displayed in red has been associated with the element of fire. This association is not directly connected to physical fire as we understand it but rather to the inner nature of fire from within the internal dimensions, which is responsible for the manifestation of physical fire in the first place. Without this manifestation from the internal dimensions fire as we know it physically could never have existed.

The downward triangle usually displayed in blue has been associated with the element of water or The Waters of Life.

Both triangles now being connected together create a meaning of, Spiritual Fire and Spiritual Water which can also be considered as Conscience and Complete Enlightenment.

The center of this symbol the joining of the upright and downward triangles produces a regular hexagon that encompasses an area with elements belonging to both triangles. The positive one and the negative one. This six-sided polygon lends its self to the number six which is represented at times by the Sixth Sephirah, Typhareth the Human Soul, Conscious Will. Being able to become awakened in the Sephirah Typhareth is of a transcendental significance. It is the beginning of the end of all our prosperity to suffering, mostly due to ignorance, desire and attachment.

The psychoanalytical and transcendental details of the Seal of Solomon are the vary same perennial and universal principles portrayed in the Far Eastern Pa Kua symbol known to many as a Yin Yang symbol. The white Yang side is equivalent to the Red Triangle of the Seal of Solomon and the Black Yin side is equivalent to the Blue inverted triangle. There is a small black circle on the White side which indicates that there is Yin within Yang and the small white circle on the Black side indicates that there is Yang within Yin. This is equivalent to the perfect hexagonal area formed in the middle of the Seal of Solomon or the area that is common to both within the Red and Blue triangles.
